*Regular* Eloquent Finds

By Monday, April 13, 2015

So perhaps they won't always be coming on Fridays now, but I'll still have a dose of eloquence ready for your enjoyment pretty regularly :) Hope these hit the spot!

There's really no fun in being sensible *all* the time, Diana. -Anne Shirley Blythe, Anne of Ingleside

The more I see of the "honoured, famed, and great," the more I see of the littleness, the unsatisfactoriness of all created good; and that no earthly pleasure can fill up the wants of the immortal principle within. -Hannah More

How are you going to find out about things if you don't ask questions? Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive – it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? -Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Words of kindness
That our poor hearts crave
Please don't keep them
Hidden away
-"Hidden Away," by Josh Groban

It would be a terrible place if everybody were intellectual and serious and in deep, deadly earnest. -Philippa Gordon, Anne of the Island by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine. -The Imitation Game (2014 film)

Some advice about keeping secrets: it's a lot easier if you don't know them in the first place. -Alan Turing, The Imitation Game (2014 film)

There is one thing, Emma, which a man can always do, if he chooses, and that is, his duty; not by maneuvering and finessing, but by vigor and resolution. -Mr. Knightley to Emma Woodhouse, Emma by Jane Austen

Just because Jane Austen, y'all. I've been listening to them on audiobook and highly recommend it. Great for long car rides or exercising!
